2.05.2005 ||> the world's insane and we're all to blame
I'm living in Philadelphia right now and as anyone here can tell you, the Philly Eagles are going to the Superbowl on Sunday. I remember when the Phoenix Suns won the regional championship to play the Bulls in whatever the basketball championship is called. It was nuts. Even my normally sane mother was wearing orange and purple to work. (The fashion police had too much on their hands to catch her) Businesses everywhere were sporting logos and Charles Barkley was on the news every night.
But nothing compares to Eagles fans. They are everywhere, and everything right now is green and white. Last night, the local news affiliate changed the NBC logo to the Eagles mascot. People keep talking about the Eagles as if they were the Boston Red Sox, like they deserve to win because it's been so long since they went to a Superbowl. As anyone from Phoenix can tell you, not making it for a long time doesn't score you any points on the field. After a long wait and a shot at the championship in the 90's, the Phoenix Suns still lost to the Chicago Bulls. I'll cross my fingers for Philly, but I won't get my hopes up.
