As I sat inside my cafeteria today, I could see outside at the leaves falling outside like a gentle rain of gold and green. It seems that the cold, almost brilliantly cruel hand of winter has finally choked out the last warm smile of the summer sun. Autumn has always been a favorite time of year for me. It shows a spectacular fall from grace for the summer which some thought would never leave. For others, like me, it's more of a precipice. The lovers of the sun and heat see that glory fading into the blank whiteness of snow and it's sister, the the beautifully trecherous ice as Fall turns to Winter.

But for now, that precipice and it's long decline are covered in a golden fog of leaves. Everything is, for now, crisp and bright but not too cold to make the brisk air hateful. Frozen limbs and seasonal depression are fears not laid to rest by the soft slither of leaves falling to the earth. Rather, there is only the promised danger as the sun pretends to hide away until March.
