So my mom's in town and we're tooling around Tashkent, and it's really surreal. I've been living this very un-American life here, speaking Russian and acting Uzbek and doing the whole Peace Corps thing. And now here's this breath of America, and how I felt when I first came here is so far way that I am trying to remember how it was the first time. But I think this is very interesting for her because she sees how I deal with every day stuff, like throwing away toilet paper instead of flushing it (she didn't believe me at first) or bargaining at the bazaar. She says I'm more laid back than I used to be - so I'm really grateful if that's true. Really, I think I've just gone over the bend.
